NAWA JUTSU

Nawa Jutsu
The art of handling ropes and ties

During the different periods of history the ropes and the ropes were included and used for various purposes by the warriors of ancient Japan, were used as weapons and even as everyday items. On the belt armor, Samurai wore a rope (nawa koshi). Its generic name was not himo uchi kara and was multifunctional, used as secure mount (kura gatame) to tie the horse (shiba TSUGAMI) and also to bind and transport prisoners (mawa tori). For the art of combat, techniques and strategies that were developed as a method for holding and transporting the prisoners were carefully compiled and studied by many Ryu has since the mid-sixteenth century.

In the society of Japan those days were distinct social classes such as warrior, merchant, artisan, farmer, religious beggar, so depending on social status and sex that had the shape of a prisoner was being tied to particular each individual. Anyway we must take into account the human rights of those times were few and still being tied was humiliating for anyone beyond their social status.

In the Tokugawa feudal Japanese police developed sophisticated procedures to hold prisoners with rope bondage by various methods, these are known as hojo jutsu. As is known, the management of certain weapons in those days was also a question of status for that reason junior assistants (okappiki) were used for the tasks of arrest and taking of prisoners. Its low range forced them try to raise it, so the correct decision as detailed codes of prisoners was very important and would be taken account in order to progress within the ranks, especially if the prisoner in question was of superior rank. However, high-ranking samurai also used ropes and ties as they present a safe way to control their opponents to take them as prisoners. Hattori Hanzo The famous Jonin (1541-1596), who was counselor and personal bodyguard Shogun Ieyasu Tokugawa (1543-1616), is known as an expert in the handling of rope, he developed various techniques sageo jutsu (cord the sheath of the sword).

Hojo Jutsu Rules

1 - Do not allow the prisoner to slip its bounds.
2 - No physical or mental harm.
3 - Do not allow others to see the techniques.
4 - That the results are pleasing to view.

The other officers were torimono to perform the tasks of arrest and transportation of prisoners. These groups consisted of at least four officers. At the time of operations, one was the one doing the techniques and the others around him taking the passive control of the situation in this way was possible to hide the criminal techniques and even the common people. The speed of the officers for the bonds was essential to subdue the prisoners, for that reason had to train constantly to reach a quick and effective. The strings for this training were of silk and while the arrest was hemp. It was important not to cause unnecessary damage to the prisoner and in many cases had not yet been sentenced and judged by the law. They usually did not wear ties knots and the end of the same was given several turns of rope, leaving a final where the person is carrying. Also should take into account what he would do with the prisoner and controlled. Thus was born the form used in hojo jutsu. When being transported from one region to another and the prisoner was delivered to other officers, before the formal surrender was to loosen the bonds would not be what were the techniques used in it. Each clan or each region had its ways hojo jutsu and the same were protected like other martial traditions.

Conclusion
Given the social and political background of the feudal period of Japan, the techniques and thinking hojo jutsu are apparently positive and effective to capture an enemy and transport it to desired location.
Likewise, techniques have been used unhealthy methods of torture as both warriors and people of other occupations.
The strings were not used as primary elements in the time of confrontation. For this reason it is highly complementary to the techniques of budo taijutsu.
The samurai bodyguards of some of the various feudal lords supplemented their techniques with those of Jutai Hojo Jutsu Jutsu.
As the techniques of Hojo Jutsu, smoothly and without knots all subtly intertwines the study of Budo infinite.

Fudo Myo "the Immutable," one of the divinities in Shingon Buddhism, is a symbol of psycho-spiritual balance. In one of his performances it is wearing a tie (in other cases carries a rosary) and a sword. As the faithful protector of Buddhism, Fudo Myo links to the ills that trouble them and eventually ends with the sword.
